Creating a Hand Line to Reach an Exposed Rappel
Creating a Hand Line to Reach an Exposed Rappel in Canyoning
Sometimes you need to reach a canyoning stop that’s difficult to reach because you might slip, and it’s located in an exposed spot.
So I have to build a releasable handrail: I pass the rope through a loop, then make a figure 8. I attach it to the belay loop with a screwgate carabiner, then I take the descender and place it on the other end.
And once I’m tethered on both sides, I approach that point and lower myself.
