One Way to Free Your Hands from the OKA Descender by Locking It Off
There are various descenders for canyoning. A #8 can be great, but there are also more advanced systems like the Oka. If I want to stop on the rope without using my hands, since I don’t have a Machard like in rappelling [in climbing], I have to create a key.
So I loop the Oka twice, then I insert the rope into the hole and then wrap it around again at this point. This way, I’ve created a key and can stop on the rope without using my hands.
