Hand Line in Canyoning

Hand Line in Canyoning – Chapter 2 – Securing, Using and Retrieving It

Capitolo 2

As soon as I reach the belay station with the handrail, which will be the abseil station, I can release my descender.

I take the carabiner I tied the knot in and attach it to the belay station. Then I tie a slightly taut Boatman’s Hook so that those arriving after me can use it by clipping it back with a lanyard.

As soon as everyone has reached the belay station, I can release my handrail by removing the figure-eight knot at the end and sliding it off the previous belay station. This way, I leave nothing behind and am ready to descend.
